Why dogs?

MORE THAN SLOBBERY KISSES AND PUPPY SNUGGLES

Audrey Dalton, pet photographer, with her two dogs

Exhausted. You fumble for your keys and make your way inside. Tired and hungry. And then, there it is...that familiar sound of four paws scarpering across the floor to meet you. Suddenly, everything melts away. You're enveloped by that smile, furiously waggy tail and special glisten in their eye that says you're the most important thing in their world. I help dog owners, just like you, capture those special moments so they can hold onto them forever and come together with other like-minded humans.

I'm very lucky to have two hairy helpers in my life that have picked me up. Their love and happiness glow like a big shiny piece of tinfoil held up to the sun. The power they've had on me in my darkest moments is the reason I began to build the foundations of this dream. I wanted to bottle up their essence and hold it close to my heart forever. That dorky look from Ozzie that makes me laugh, or the way io sleeps cuddling her favourite piggy toy. I wanted to have a lasting memory of how special they are and to celebrate their uniqueness. Missing teeth and all!

I now help others tell and share the story of their dog.

What inspires me most is our history with dogs. A story that's not based on survival of the fittest, but a survival of the friendliest. Vicious wolves were chased away by hunter-gatherers while friendly wolves were invited into a place by the fire.

I believe in that community.  I created a safe place online, where dog lovers come together to celebrate the story of their dog. I organise dog-friendly events throughout the year so we can touch base in person. The Pack has helped members better handle depression, anxiety and social isolation. I think that's powerful stuff! We want to help others reconnect, make friends and just enjoy a social life together.

Did you know a wolf pack place the elderly, young and infirm at the front of the pack to set the pace? As a result, no-one ever gets left behind. That's our motto, so #followthepack if you want to belong to something truly special.

AUDREY DALTON PET PHOTOGRAPHER AT WORK

I do all that I do for the love of dog...

I love dogs so much it hurts my bones and I'm honoured to be able to use Pawtrait as a platform to help better the lives of dogs and animals in Ireland and help bring about change.

For each Experience purchased, a €5 donation goes to our Pawtrait "Charity of Choice". The donation is made in whole at the end of the year, just in time for Christmas! In 2016, I was invited to photograph the Irish Blue Cross' Christmas cards which raised over €9,300 in funds for the charity! How amazing is that?! I work pro bono with a number of different animal charities, from Dogs Trust to the Miniature Schnauzer Rescue. This work ranges from event coverage, promotional photography and adoption Pawtraits' to gift vouchers for a silent auction. It's a personal and business passion of mine to help make a change and offer support in any way I can.

If you are a charity organisation and would like Pawtrait to help you in some way, simply get in touch and let's talk making a difference.
