Valentine’s Day is fast approaching on February 14th and maybe you have a special dog-nut in your life you want to get a gift for. But let’s be honest here…human partner or not, your pup is still probably the love of your life! Read on to see our list of cute, quirky and pawsome gifts for your two or four legged pawtner in crime!
For Your Partner
Something special for the dog lover in your life.
1. Sponsor a Rescue Dog in Their Name
‘Rescue is our favourite breed’ and we are always looking for ways to help all the rescue doggos across the country. So why not sponsor a dog in DogsTrust or donate to one of the many local shelters like Ash, Dawg or Madra in your partner’s name. This is a great pressie as it’s a super way to share the love with a pup-in-need and really helps one of our many rescue shelters.
2. The Pawfect Read
Some of the best (and most heartbreaking) stories revolve around doggos. If your other half loves to curl up with their good-boy and a good book, then consider getting them one of these books below. (They’ve probably already read Old Yeller, White Fang and Marley & Me)
The Art of Racing in the Rain is a novel by author and film producer Garth Stein and is told from a dog’s point of view. The novel was a New York Times bestseller for 156 weeks. This story starts at the end of Enzo’s life. He is an old dog, preparing himself and his master, Denny, for their ultimate goodbye and reflecting on their life together. Yes, it’s a tearjerker (aren’t they all) but it is also funny & uplifting.
Off the Leash: A Year at the Dog Park is a collection of tails of dog people, specifically the dog people who gather at Amory Park in Boston, as written by author Matthew Gilbert. Read the stories and relish in Matthews transformation from someone who fears dogs into one of those people covered in dog hair with poo-bags in one pocket and treats in the other all thanks to his first ever dog, Toby.
Rescuing Riley, Saving Myself is the true story of a hiker who found a starving puppy at the bottom of a deep canyon. Rescuing the pup would have been an impossible act for most, but author Zachary Anderegg did it and, along the way, came to terms with personal demons that had haunted him since childhood.
3. A Little Piece of Art
How about some textile art featuring dogs and Liberty London fabric? These beautiful pieces of art (as featured in VOGUE) make a stunning Valentine’s gift for the house-proud dog lover.
